My camera goes with me just about everywhere I go. Photography has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Ever since I could hold a camera, I owned one. While my passion was simply a hobby for most of my life, I have always been obsessed with capturing the perfect photo. Constantly challenging my best to become even better. Seeking beauty in everything around me.
In May of 2006 I gave birth to my daughter, Kayla. That event changed my life forever. Not because she made me a Mommy but because she opened my eyes to real and true beauty. That day rocked my life to the core when I realized that Kayla has Down syndrome. Since that day I have found beauty and perfection in what others may not believe to be perfect. From her almond shaped eyes to her chubby little hands...those details...that girl...pure perfection. You see, having Kayla opened my eyes as a photographer. I no longer seek the perfect image...with the perfect poses and perfectly combed hair...I seek the perfect journey. By doing so my photography has become more real, passionate and alive. I strive to capture memories for you, not just photos. Ten years from now I want you to look back at these photographs and remember her crooked little smile, his wrinkle in his nose, those perfectly tiny little toes, that old blanket she just wouldn't let go of, every detail you planned for your perfect wedding day...
So how did I come to name my photography company Grace Ryan? I wanted something easy to remember {my last name isn't the easiest to spell} and more importantly, Grace and Ryan are the middle names of my two favorite people...my daughter and my husband. Why would I choose their middle names over their first? It's simple. I believe that the little details {like middle names} often get overlooked. I promise to never overlook the little details...they are what fuel my passion and desire for photography.
